A couple photoshoot in Ortigia, after a wedding in Tuscany.

Sophia and Will came from Boston. They had flown to Italy for a family wedding: a sister was getting married in Tuscany. So they took the chance to come down to Sicily too, and to treat themselves to a couple photoshoot in Ortigia.

Two hours, two outfits

They were staying at Fontane Bianche, by the sea south of Syracuse, about 20 minutes by taxi from the old town. We chose a two-hour session: enough time for lots of photos, without rushing, and for an outfit change halfway through. We met in Piazza Duomo in the early afternoon, in front of the baroque cathedral.

Little streets and courtyards

From the square we got lost in the little streets of Ortigia and stepped into a few courtyards: arches, plants, the old stone. Quiet corners, where it's easy to forget the camera.

On the way we passed the Fountain of Diana in Piazza Archimede, one of the most beautiful squares of Ortigia.

And of course, a cannolo, shared in the street.

A coffee with the Duomo behind

Then a break: a few relaxed photos at a café while they drank a coffee, with the cathedral of Syracuse behind them. The café was also the perfect place for the outfit change: something lighter and more casual for the second part, by the sea.

New outfit, same square, then down the streets towards the water.

If you're coming to Sicily after a wedding

Many couples add a few days in Sicily to a wedding elsewhere in Italy, like Sophia and Will. If you're staying at Fontane Bianche or anywhere around Syracuse, Ortigia is a short taxi ride away, and I come to you at no extra cost. With two hours there's time for two outfits: a café is the easiest place to change.
